doubt regarding using NI-VISA

I have followed the procedure that was there in http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4478 for using USB instrument. I am having a problem of device not showing up in the MAX. But in the hardware it says it was installed correctly. I am using USBRAW devices called Tekscan BPMS device and Delsys Myomonitor IV system. I got to know that they are USBRAW devices but not sure. Anyhow I think thats not going to be problem. So, anyone can please help me resolve this issue. Thanks.

Let's take a step back to the beginning. You installed this device and were using it with the vendor provided software, correct? If that's the case, then before you used the VISA wizard, did you delete all of the vendor software including the inf file? How is the device listed in windows device manager?

I haven't deleted any of the vendor software. but while i was transfering the INF file in the windows folder it asked me for to replace it. I clicked on ok. And should I need to uninstall all the software relating to equipment before going for VISA? If that's the case then its going to be problem since we are using that software also presently. Pls tell me the solution for this. Thanks.

One device is listed in other devices in device manager and One as Tekscan device.

You can't have two different inf files for the same device. Windows can only load one driver. You either delete the vendor's and use VISA or leave the vendor's file there and not use VISA. It would be so much simpler to just buy the API that the vendor offers for the device. At some point, you will have spent enough time on trying to create your own driver that the cost of the api will seem small.

I don't understand what you are saying. You ask to overwrite what and when? What are you copying and where?

If your device is working with the software that came from the vendor, it is using the inf file that came with the device.

The device has got software that we are working on. And I developed the device driver for it using NI VISA driver development wizard. In the procedure, it says, copy the generated INF file to the windows INF file folder. While I was doing it, asked me for to replace the old one. So, I was thinking that, might be the actual device driver was overwritten by this one. But the device is working well with the software of it. So, I don't know what should I do for using it with labview. Can u pls explain me how to do it? Thanks.

Take the CD that came from the vendor and find the inf file. Search your windows>inf folder for all files with that name. There will be two. Delete both. Create the VISA inf file.
