We have a system where we have 2 cRIO 9045 chassis's. 1 handles the control, and the other does data acquisition. I'm looking at expanding this system and am looking at the idea of using a cDAQ chassis for expansion. I read this knowledge article (https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z0000019NYwSAM&l=en-US), and it says that I could use the cDAQ 9185/9 as an expansion chassis. That's fine but if I could use the cDAQ 9179 with 14 slots that would be ideal. In that same article it says you can use the cDAQ 917x line with the cDAQ 913x line. Is there any way I could use the cDAQ 9179 with a cRIO 9045? Does anyone have experience doing this kind of thing? There weren't that many resources about how to configure that kind of a setup so I don't really know if it would work without just trying it. Thanks for any help and input!

Hello CaveJohnson,
Unfortunately it wouldn't work.
cDAQ 9179 can connect to controller with Windows but your controller doesn't have those capabilities.
