Y Controls

I've long wanted something like XControls, but without support for edit-time functionality; because I rarely need that, and it tends to cause headaches.  Sure, there are Q Controls, but I never liked their klunkyness.  So I invented Y Controls.  They're a lot like XControls, but their ability VIs are only reserved-for run when the owning VI is running.  And they don't need associated support VIs* placed on the owning VI (as Q Controls do); so your BDs are cleaner.

They seem to be working OK, but I need help in 2 areas:

  1. Creating the VI Package, which I've never done before (is there a good tutorial out there?)
  2. Volunteers willing to try out Y Controls and report bugs.

*  e.g. "Load Reference.vi", "Initialize Control.vi", etc,

I was hoping to get #1 done 1st.  In lieu of that, in the next couple of days I'll try to throw together a video on how to use the unpackaged code.

There's no documentation yet.  I think it'll be quicker to do a quick video demo.

A video is also OK of course.

Drat, my video is way to big to post here.  So I threw together a little "Getting Started" document.

I'm still resolving some issues, but it works well enough to play with; just make sure you don't have any important work unsaved.

Hi Paul

Do I need to place the folders somewhere specific within the LabVIEW system?

I'm going to try in LV20, although my primary workhorse is still LV18

They can go anywhere.
