Over the past day or so I have lost access to inputs and outputs on the DAQ Assistant. I have followed the instructions posted here with no luck.
Some background:
I am operating a cDAQ9172 with a series of AI/AO/DIO/Relay modules. I am also using a SCXI1000 with an NI1303 thermocouple multiplexer.
When I access the AI channels on MAX, I can read the outputs just fine. When I place a DAQ Assistant on a blank VI, I can configure the channels just fine (T/C type, range, etc.). When I build the Express VI, nothing happens and it returns the attached figure.
Per the instructions of the above link I have installed and reinstalled LabVIEW and MAX and updated each with the latest version updates. I am now at an impasse, because it's still not working properly as it had in the past. I am getting frustrated. Thanks!

Don't use DAQ Assistant. Be a real programmer and use DAQmx discrete functions. No its not the answer to your problem, but it is good advice. You will have greater flexibility using the discrete functions. There are many examples showing their use.

I am familiar with "the right way" discussion. I am prototyping, and I will use better programming practices once the time comes. Either way, the DAQmx funcitons aren't working either. I've generated tasks in MAX and tried calling them in LabVIEW and it's not working...

I didn't mean to be condescending, I just didn't know what level of programmer you were. Sorry if I came across as rude. Hmmm, after re-installing you still have a problem. Did you try removing all NI software first, then re-installing? I would hate to be in your shoes. That is a very long process.

No worries, tbob. I frequently visit the forums, and I know you're a stallwart LabVIEW Professional. I've been working with LV for ~4 years, and I've attended a number of courses/discussions and read a few books (i.e. Johnson and Jennings, 2006). That should give you an idea of the knowledge base I have. I didn't think you were being condescending, so no worries. 😃
I have scrubbed all NI software and reinstalled using the method outlined in several other posts (standard Windows uninstall process via Add/Remove Programs). This is a real head scratcher. I've come at it at a number of angles. I've even spoken with my local field rep (Ryan), and he's a bit stumped, too (which doesn't happen often). So, I wanted to give the forums a pass, because I know the folks on here are always spot on.

Well I'm just as stumped as your field rep. I don't even have any DAQ equipment installed on my system, and the DAQ Assistant shows up just fine. What happens when you double click on it to set it up? After choosing all the parameters, you click on the OK button. Then you should see a pop-up box that says Building VI. Before you do this step, the DAQ Assistant will not have any inputs and outputs. After the build, it will have inputs and outputs.

It never prompts me that it's building. That's where the problem is occuring, between the options/set up and the VI Builder. It just never builds. It used to as of last Friday, but now... nothing.

Make double sure you are selecting all of the parameters it needs, then pressing the OK button. Otherwise, I'm stumped. Have you tried reloading the Device Drivers CD?

OK button is the last thing I hit. I have reloaded all the drivers including the most recent updates from NI after I uninstalled and reinstalled LV and MAX.

Hello,
If you are continuing to have issues after uninstalling/reinstalling through Add/Remove Programs, I would suggest contacting Technical support so that one of our engineers can work with you more directly. You may also want to take a look at this forum.
