Stray Blob with Dual Monitors and a Stand Alone exe

Hi,

When I run any stand alone exe that I make on a dual monitor system (XP Media Center) I get a blob (see attachment) that is stuck in the middle of the primary monitor.  I tried a very simple app and a complicated one.  Clicking on this blob will make my app run in the foreground and if my app is in the foreground then the blob will show up in front of everything else except for my app.

I'm using LabVIEW 8.01.

This happens with all apps that you build, but does it happen on all computers? Does it happen when you only have one monitor hooked up to this computer? Would you attach a simple application that you built so I can see if it happens on my computer? I will attach a simple application built on my computer and you can see if it happens on your computer.

I would like to see what is going on with this.

It looks like a front panel with a size of (0,0) There was a bug in LV 8.0.0 that a vi that auto-centered (vi options) resized into a 0,0 frontpanel. An upgrade to 8.0.1 should resolve this

Hi,

The blob is gone now but I'm not sure what fixed it.  I didn't try anything that I thought would fix this since posting this question.  I ran my program on the dual monitor system after reading your reply and saw that the blob was gone.

I thought I tried unchecking the auto-center option.  I also was and still am running 8.0.1.  I am developing this application on a single-monitor system and the application's target system has two monitors.  I don't have any other dual system monitors.

The blob is back!  It actually only shows up only for certain users and that's why I thought it was gone!  I'm not sure what the difference is between the users who are plagued by the blob and those who aren't.

I need to install 8.20 before I can try Rick K's test program.  I'm currently running 8.01.

Have you tried a CO2 fire extinguisher on it? (reference to the movie "The Blob")

I have the blob all the time, whether running LV development environment or stand-alone exe.

Right in the middle of my primary monitor (portrait).

I've gotten to like it.  I think I'll give it a name.....
