What are you talking about?

The only thing in LabVIEW that resembles the words you are using Functional Global Variable.

I have heard of Functional Globals in LabVIEW (ActionEngine).

But I have to admit this is the first time I hear of a Functional Global Resistor.

Can you elaborate?

Where did you hear of this terminology?

That is a functional global variable. Also known as an Action Engine. I think you're getting confused by the name that someone gave to the VI, using FG to mean "Functional Global" and "R" for Resistor. Why someone would name a VI like that I have no idea.

Why?

There was a standard about naming that said that sub-VI were pre-fixed by the callers name or abreviations indicating the caller. I though tthe standard was silly becuase it blew up the first time the sub-VI was called from diferent VIs.

That standard also tried to avoid name colisions between vis.

It has been replaced by using libraries.

I thought that convention had to do with the prefix being a category or some sort of functional group, rather than the type of VI. Though I have seen "real" code posted on these forums where subVIs had the prefix "SubVI - ". Ummmm... yeah.... I'll bet they'd never do that with text-based languages, so I have no idea why they would treat LabVIEW any differently.

You're right.  When programming in C, I never call functions or object file "subVI".

Yep...  Functional Global.  If you do a search on FUnctional GLobals, I'm sure you'll find hundreds of posts.

They are quite useful, actually.

Was there something in particular that you wanted to know about the code?
