Report Picture Format

With the VI 'Image in Header or Footer.vi' I want to append a picture to my LabVIEW report. Does somebody know what kind of picture file types work with this VI? I would prefere an eps or tif graphic. When I append a bitmap image the quality is very poor- especially for printing afterwards. And is it possible to define the dimensions of the image?

Working with Excel Templates and ActiveX was much better. But I have to find a good solution without Windows software. I got along with the report generation toolkit, but the images are very unsatisfying.

thanks for any tip!

Hi Dave,

I'm not familiar with the "Image in Header or Footer.vi" you refer to.  Is this your own VI that you wrote?  I don't think this is a VI that comes with the Report Generation Toolkit.  Can you perhaps attach the VI you're using and we can talk more about it?

Hi Darren!

The VI is one from an NI example and its located in vi.lib/Utility/NIReport.llb.

Ah, it's in the LLB, but not in the palettes.  Ok, I'll take a look at it later this morning and let you know what I find.

Ok, I took a look at the VI.  Are you using this VI with a Standard Report or an HTML Report?  With the HTML report, you can attach whatever kind of picture you want, and the VI just sticks an img tag in the HTML with the path to the image file.  With the Standard Report, all that happens is that the AppendPictureFromFile method is called, and I believe this method allows PNG, JPG, and GIF file formats.

If you're still having problems, could you perhaps attach a simple VI (and image file) that demonstrates the poor graphics problem you're referring to?
