Refs to controls on tab control

I'm really stumped. I have been able to get all of my references to all my controls with property nodes - even controls inside clusters for all of the controls on a vi front panel. However, when I move these very same controls onto a tab control I can't seem to figure out how to get these same references! I can only get the tab control ref.
