Real Time Signal Processing

I am wondering if you could recommend which LabView products could help me in my application.  I need to input sound through a microphone, do some signal processing on it, then output this to headphones.  I was planning on using a PC to do this.  I wanted to input the sound through the sound card, use LabView to process this, and then output that to the sound card again.  It is important that I do this in real-time, and I am not sure if I can get good results using the PC.

I was looking at the NI Speedy-33, but it looks like that is only for educational use.

Can this be done using a PC? And if not, do you have any products you recommend to try?

Thanks.

Did you look at NI's Sound and Vibration Toolkit?  Using a hign end S-Series or DSA card my work but won't get real-time.  Delays maybe measured in 10s to 100s of milliseconds.  Only way to get Real-Time is to use the FPGA products.  Delays will still be measured in nSEc or uSecs.  Sound and Vibration Toolkit will not work with FPGA products.

For my application, I need to have real time.  I have been looking at LabView Real Time to do this.  With LabView Real Time, I will need to buy another piece of hardware (like a PXI).  This seems to be more than I need.  I only need to have 1 microphone input and 1 headphone output.  Is it possible to do that using LabView Real Time?

Also, using an FPGA could work.  Do you know where I can find information on using FPGA's and LabView?

Thanks.

Your best bet for a real-time solution is probably our CompactRIO line.  For more information, click the link below:
