Check out this USB6009 + Encoder.

There are limitations though. You can not sense direction.

when I used this VI, the count is going up, up and up. I need when I stop, the RPM in zero condition.

Hi okky,

read the manual of your USB6009: it clearly says the counter can only count-up!

But what is your problem anymway: to calc RPM you need to get differences of your counter…

I need when I stop, the RPM in zero condition.

So when you stop your VI the last RPM value should be zero? Even when the machine is still rotating? I don't get this…

Quick&dirty: write a zero to your RPM indicator when you stop the VI…

Hello,

I would like to know if NI USB 6009 needs an external power source for generating signals or is it good enough when connected to the PC ?

Hi Vishnu,

you don't need an external power source…

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm supposed to record pressures from 4  Pressure switches and 3 piston detectors as well as generate signals to stop the pump when the pressure exceeds the limit.

I have very basic knowledge about this. It would be great if you can offer some advice here.

Thank you
