Hi, I read the forum but I'm a bit confused, so i'm looking for orientation.

We have 30 Engines (General Motors and one Caterpillar) installed in an electrical company in Chile.

We need to monitoring remotely some values, such as Temperature, Velocity (RPM), Pressure, Voltage etc.

It's possible to have all measurements of these 30 engines in real time in one screen?

It's possible to build same software in a Pocket PC, Cell phone or a Web Interface?

It's LabView the software that we need?

Only I need a confirmation to do the first step

To begin, yes LabVIEW is an excellent platform for implementing the type of monitoring application that you are needing to create. With it you can create applications that run on a variety of platforms (including PDAs and the web). However, it sounds like you have a fairly complex application that could prove to be a long frustrating first project for someone just learning the language.

You should probably find a good system integrator to work with for the development of your first system. Contact me back-channel and I'd be glad to discuss your application with you.

PS: It's probably not reasonable to expect to get all the data from all 30 engines on the same screen unless you do some serious data reduction.

Thanks Mike for your reply and yes, we are thinking in get help from someone more experienced. About all 30 engines in one screen, we think if it's possible a web interface we can choose the engines that want to appear in screen or if we click in one can get all detailed info and graphics.

so, if we need to do a web interface, what version of Labview we need? Full, Pro or Suite?

It's possible to port the project Visual basic? LabView have user controls for vb?

LV Pro would be a minimum. Concerning VB, it really doesn't give you any added capability that you don't already have with LV. What is it that you are wanting to do with it?

VB6 was only to do a more customizable interface and DB support.
