PMT controlling

Solved!

Hello,

I am the one who are working with some PMT on a LED induced fluorescence setup.

Since, I am going to control the PMT using a DAQ card I need to some written ready to use LabView block diagrams. Is there anyone who can guide me in this regard?

Best,

Recommendation: when you write a message to get help you should explain "unusual" abbrevations like "PMT"…

Are you talking about a PhotoMultiplier Tube?

If yes:

  • Which type/manufacturer?
  • Does it come with a driver circuitry?
  • Does the manufacturer provide a manual for tube and driver?
  • Can you link the manual?

Btw. I don't think you are "the one"… 😄

Best regards,
GerdW

First, thank you for replying.

I'd be whatever you call, if you could guide me!😁

Yes, I was meaning exactly Photomultiplier Tube.

I have two options (H10682-210/ Hamamatsu, and MP-1982 (8674-P-0810)/ Perkin Elmer MP-1982) and there is no any driver circuitry with them, but I am not sure! Since they were order by other previous users which were working before me on my lab.

Hi Mahsa,

both output TTL-compatible pulses, as can be read here and here.

You need to use a DAQ device with some (TTL-compatible) counter inputs!

(Btw. you don't "control" those tube, you just read their output signals…)

Best regards,
GerdW

Well, I have the DAQ card but for reading the output signal of PMT I need to use LabView and programming a block diagram to read my signal output. But since I am not that much familiar with LabView I need some written program at least, then I will change it more. Do you have some written codes to read these PMTs? and at the moment I do not have any clue with block diagraming in Labview.

Hi Mahsa,

how did the previous student/engineer use those PMTs? How did (s)he create data files?

LabVIEW comes with a huge library of example VIs/projects: did you explore that?

Did you take the Training resources offered in the header of the LabVIEW board to learn LabVIEW?

Best regards,
GerdW
