No DataSocket Connection option in Data Operations menu

In LabVIEW 8.2.1 Right clicking on a control, selecting Data Operations did not produce DataSocket Connection option.

I used to do that in LabVIEW 7. How do I obtain this capability in LabVIEW 8.2.1?

Right click and select Properties. Go to the Data Binding tab and see the recomendation about using the shared variable instead.
