My system doesn't recognize NI USB 6009 Device.

Hi,

I have just installed NI-DAQmx 8.8 in my Windows XP running on Mac for plugging NI-USB 6009 device, but under the Measurement and Automation window, I can't see any device name under Devices and Interfaces<NI-DAQmx Devices. The green LED of the device is continuously blinking while I connect it to the USB port. I will really appreciate if somebody has any clue to solve it.

Can you see it as a VISA instrument?

A USB device will show up as a COM port.

Just place a VISA constant on your block diagram,

then press the arrow for the drop-down box and it should show up.

If you can't see it in MAX, you will not likely see it in LabVIEW.

Have you plugged in the device after booting to WinXp?  It should say that it found a new hardware.

After getting the message, have a look in MAX.  It should be listed.

However, I have not tried the more recent DAQmx drivers..

Unfortunately it is in windows. Windows doesn't recognize the device. I don't know, is this a problem because of running WinXP in Mac?

Medhi,

When you plug the device into your computer, does Windows bring up the Found New Hardware Wizard?  If it does, then you need to let this run to associate the proper drivers with the device.  If it does not come up, then you may need to Scan for Hardware manually in the Device Manager to find the USB 6009.  If it is not showing up in Device Manager, then it will definitely not show up in MAX.

Do you have NI-VISA installed?  The USB 6009 should show up under NI-VISA USB Devices in the Device Manager.

Have you checked to see if MAX recognizes it?

I don't think Windoze will populate the device manager for a USB DAQmx device.  Maybe I should try it tonight...  I'm curious.

What is important is if MAX detects it.

Windows will show DAQ devices. My USB-5133 and PCI-6229 are both shown. If windows does not see a device, it won't even load the driver so the first step is actually getting windows to recognize it.

That may well be the problem.

Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)
