Multiple USB-6001

Solved!
Go to solution

I am being asked to do a project that someone has determined needs four USB-6001 DAQ devices. Can four USB-6001 devices be used at the same time?

Hi metzler,

yes.

(Maybe it would be more useful to use one "bigger" DAQ device: how many AI/AO/DIO do you need?)

Best regards,

That would be the ideal way to handle it, but I may not have any control over that.

I have been tasked to do this project, but I haven't seen the specifications yet.  The USB-6001 devices may already be on hand.

So there should not be a problem running all four at the same time?  I don't have any experience with the USB-6001, but have used the Measurement Computing USB-1208ls on several projects - I am thinking the 6001 may be a modified copy.

Only two type of issues come to mind.

1) The customer swaps around the USB-6001 and the channel mapping gets screwed up.

2) Power saving options shut-off the USB ports.

1) can be handled tracking the S/N of the USB devices.

2) fixed in device manager and power saving options.

A USB hub may be a bad idea.
