Measurement & Automation

When I launch Measurement & Automation only the splash screen comes up. Windows task manager does not show max as running. I've tried to reinstall and repair max,  but still it will not run. Any suggestions?

I have not heard of this problem before with MAX.

What operating system are you using and which version of MAX?

I am using xp pro and the version of max is 4.3. I am using this on my note book it works fine on my pxi rack with the same OS and versions. I do not have any hardware installed on the notebook, but was trying to give an IVI driver a logical name. When I install the driver on the pxi rack in max I can see the driver sessions and create a logical name on the configuration screen. On the notebook I can never see the configuration screen.

Thanks for the info

DeathDog,

This seems to be an unusual problem. Does the welcome screen of MAX stays up or does it disappear afterwards? Has it opened before? Did it get corrupted after installing a software? What other National Instruments software do you have in this notebook?

A possible solution is to uninstall MAX, download the newest version of DAQmx which includes MAX, and see if that solves the problem.

I completely uninstalled all NI software and reinstalled labview 8.5, device drivers, and LabView FPGA module 8.5 and NI-RIO drivers, but it still will not function.

Are you logged in as an administrator on the machine when you did the reinstallation?

Try deleting all the directory found in "Document and setting\all users\National Instruments\Max". I had a similiar problem because of a corrupted data base file.

Hi DeathDog,

I would suggest going through the "Database Corruption" part of the following KnowledgeBase. Also, I would like to know which version of the Device Driver did you install. As mentioned above, do check if you are an administrator for this machine. Hope this helps.
