Labview runtime engine plugin problem in Mac OS X

Fab,

I overlooked the intial version information in the post. Currently 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard) is not a supported Mac operating system. I have linked the Knowledgebase article discussing LabVIEW support for Mac here. I would highly recommend visiting the Product Suggestion Center to provide feedback directly to the R&D team, on providing compatibility for 10.6.

Please post back any additional questions you may have. I very much appreciate the time spent troubleshooting this behavior. I will be forwarding this information also as a Corrective Action Request, for future work in the Snow Leopard version compatibility.

Thank You,

Patrick,

Do you have the CAR for this issue?

I want to know if Snow Leopard is going to be supported at some point.

Thanks,

Fab

Hello Fab,

As of the release of LabVIEW 2010, Snow Leopard is a supported operating system for LabVIEW and Select Drivers*. The 2010 release notes will detail the Operating System support.

Cheers!

Patrick,

We finally got around to upgrading LabVIEW to 2010. I installed the LabVIEW 2010 runtime engine on the Mac OS 10.6 (snow leopard).

However, when I try to connect to my remote panel it says that the plugin needed is not installed. I checked in the help menu on Safari and lists the LabVIEW 2010 runtime as installed.

I tried connecting from Internet explorer and once I put the port on the IP adress (http://168.192.1.10:8000/RemotePanel.html) it connected with no problem. So I know the html page has the correct information and I know the remote panels work. It just does not work on Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

What else can I do to enable remote panel connection on the Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard)?

Thanks,

Fab

Would it be possible to post a larger image?

Also, is port 8000 on the MAC configured for both HTTP and TCP/IP communication? Is there a firewall enabled on the system? Has the LabVIEW 2010 RTE been added as an exception?

Thanks,

Why would the port need to be configured in the MAC? I thought that would be configured only on the cRIO system, correct? The MAC is only being used to see the remote panel. The code is running directly in the cRIO system that has the 192.168.1.100 IP address.

There is no firewall in this system, so no need to add the Run Time Engine as an exception.

Here are the larger images:

The two first images show the message we get no matter if the :8000 is added to the address or not.

The third image shows that LabVIEW runtime Engine is listed as an installed "plugin".

Fab,

Would it be possible to test with Firefox on your system? Also, to confirm, the full LabVIEW 2010 RTE has been installed on the system? Also, please verify that your version of the RTE matches the version of LabVIEW code running on the remote target. This document outlines the version compatibility information.

Thank You,

From just a cursory glace at the screenshots, it looks like the LabVIEW RT installation on the cRIO is serving a page that requires a plugin that can interpret 'application/x-labviewrpvi100' but Safari only has a plugin called 'application/x-labviewrpvi2010'.

I would open the plist and edit it to match the plugin name that the cRIO is serving.
