Hi,
Web control of LabVIEW applications on an Intel core Mac was not supported for version 8.2. We added support for Intel based Macs with the release of LabVIEW 8.5, which explains why you were able to get the newest release to work.

Hello,
Are you running the installer for Mac OS? Below is the Mac version.

Hello,
I'm sorry but the Power PC is not supported by LabVIEW 8.6.1.
This version of LabVIEW supports
only Macintosh computers with
Intel processors.

Thank you, Anna.
I found another solution using Virtual PC (an x86 architecture emulator) and installing the Run-Time Engine for Windows XP.

We have a similar problem.
We have a Mac with Mac OS X 10.6.2
The application runs embedded on a cRIO
The application was built using LabVIEW 2009
We are able to see the remote panel html page.
First we saw that we didn't have the plugin, because an icon appeared instead of the VI.
We Downloaded the plug in for LabVIEW, the plug in appears listed as a plugin installed on Safari.
However when we open the page we see a blank box where the remote panel should be. No "downloading" message or anything like that.
The remote panel works fine on a Windows PC.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Fab

Fab,
When you say downloaded a Plug-In for Safari, are you referring to the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine? The RTE is required for Remote panel viewing in a web browser. The version of the RTE should match the version of LabVIEW the VI was developed in.
Please post back any additional questions.
Thanks,

PCorcs,
Yes, I was referring to the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine
I downloaded LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2009 for MAC OS
My VI is built using LabVIEW 2009 in a Windows machine
The remote panel for the same VI works fine in a Windows machine that has the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2009 for Windows
Thanks,
Fab

Fab,
If you deploy a VI with a remote front panel, that is not a Real-Time VI, can the object be viewed in the Safari browser?
As the RT and FPGA module are only available for Windows operating systems, we may be running into an issue in the Mac RTE, not being able to resolve the front panel of an Real-Time object.
Looking forward to hearing your results!
Thanks,

Pcorcs,
I believe there is a problem with the MAC OS version. I believe the LabVIEW Run-time engine does not work with Mac OS X version 10.6 (also known as Snow Leopard). Would you please see if there is a CAR for this issue or contact R&D to see how we can solve the problem other than downgrading the MAC Operating System?
Here is a detailed description of the tests that drove me to this conclusion, please let me know if you need more information:
I tried with a different/older MAC Mini, just in case it was something related to the new MAC Mini.
FIRST TEST
Operating system MAC OS 10.5.7
I tried with a simple VI that controls the USER LED on the remote target
I saved first the VI using LabVIEW 8.6
The MAC had LabVIEW run-time engine 8.6 installed
I was able to open the html page using Safari on the MAC. The html page was inside the remote target and I saw in the area where the remote panel should be, the following message:
"click here to view remote panel"
I clicked there and I had no problem viewing the remote panel and controlling the USER LED on the remote target.
SECOND TEST
I installed LabVIEW run-time engine 2009 on the MAC
I created a new VI in LabVIEW 2009 that also only controlled the USER LED on the remote target
I was able to open the html page inside the remote target using Safari on the MAC. I saw in the area where the remote panel should be, the same message:
"click here to view remote panel"
I clicked there and I had no problem viewing the remote panel and controlling the USER LED on the remote target.
THIRD TEST
I upgraded the OS to MAC OS 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard)
I used the same vi that controls the USER LED on the remote target. The VI that was created using LabVIEW 2009.
I was able to open the html page inside the remote target using Safari on the MAC. However this time the area where the remote panel should be was blank, no message. I clicked on that area and nothing happened.
If I click on the Help menu on Safari>>Installed Plug-ins, The NI LabVIEW 9.0 Internet Plug-in for Macintosh is installed.
If I try to see the Remote Panel on a Windows machine with LabVIEW Run-time 2009 installed, I am able to connect to the Remote Panel there.
This third test duplicates the problem I am having with the original MAC. Even with the correct LabVIEW Run-time engine installed (same version as the LabVIEW version the VI was created in) the Remote panel can not be viewed.
