Labview RT and loading DLL's specific

We are loading a DLL inside of Labview RT on a PXI 8186. My question is this: Where does the DLL reside. If it is on the host computer, how does labview copy it over, once at the beginning or at each function call? Where does it need to be to reside on the remote computer?

Thanks

Greetings!
     Thanks for the email.
1) You can choose where to store the dll when you are creating the DLL from LabVIEW in the host.
2) On the target when you are using a call library function node in a vi that you are pointing to a dll created in the host.
3) Choose the add support file and add the dll file and build the file

After step 3, when you do a file transfer window to the target from max, you will notice that the DLL gets stored in the data directory and the exe in the startup.exe.
Thanks and hope this helps, please refer to the attached snapshot
Good luck
