LabVIEW 8.0 Run Time Engine

Hi,

I've a question about LabVIEW 8.0 run time engine.

I installed "LabVIEW_8.0_Runtime_Engine" from the NI website, but NI software in Add/Remove Programs does not list LabVIEW 8.0 Runtime Engine. However, LV 7.0 and 7.1.1 run time engines are listed in there.
Did anyone notice this?

I also have installed TestStand 3.5 on the same computer.
When I run an executable created in LabVIEW 8.0, I get the error message:
"VI version is too early to convert to the current LabVIEW version"

Comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

I've been looking into it. My neighbor and I both can't find the LabVIEW 8 Run-Time Engine under Add/Remove programs. At some point it used to show up. I believe there is some conflict when installing multiple NI applications and modules, but I'm not sure what the problem is exactly.

In any case, the LabVIEW 8 RTE should still function, even if it doesn't appear in that list. I don't believe this is related to your second issue about version conflicts, though we shouldn't rule it out.

Do you see the same error when you run these executables directly instead of through TestStand?

I think everything now shows up under "National Instruments Software", listed in the dialog box?  At least, it is for me, and it includes NI DAQ etc.

The Run-Time Engine should appear there, but some conflict may be causing it not to show up.

Can you run LabVIEW-built executables directly (not in TestStand)? Do you get any error or warnings there?

mine shows up as LabVIEW Run Time Engine by itself and Run Time Engine 7.0 and 7.1.1 under National Instrument Software.

Sorry to reactivate an old thread, but I'm having the same issue with the 8.2.1 RTE - I think the lvrt.dll is corrupt, and I'd like to reinstall it.  The RTE doesn't show up in Add/Remove_Programs, and if I just try to reinstall it, it errors-out with a "newer version installed" message.  Is there a way I can manually remove it so I can try a fresh install?

Hi crelf,

The first thing that I would check is to go into Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and click on the Software Tab. I would then check to see which version of the LabVIEW RTE shows up (if any). In theory, if the RTE shows up in MAX, then it should show up in Add or Remove Programs under National Instruments Software (highlight this and click Change....this should pull up a list of all NI products on your computer). If it doesn't show up there, then there are two other things that can be done. The first one involves modifying the Windows Registry. The second idea is to use a utility we have that I cannot post on the forum. If you create a service request via email or phone then we would be able to help you get the older versions fully uninstalled. You can create a service request at www.ni.com/ask. I hope this helps!

It's in MAX, but not Add/Remove Programs>NI

Nope - there's nothing to do with the RTE there either.

Thanks Carla - I'll try that avenue.

Great - I found the tool (it's called "MSIBlast") over here and it worked great - thanks!  You can find it here as well.
