I have just tried several times to install my new copy of LabVIEW 2011 Dev Suite, but get an unknown exception (with no details - see attached picture) right at the start of installing the development system (English 32-bit). I have rebooted and closed all applications including virus scanning but still the same. I am using WinXP Pro SP3, and already have LV 8.6, 2009, and 2010 installed. I'm completely baffled as this type of problem has never occurred before and there is no information about the cause of the exception.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for posting on our forums, could I initially ask what comes up once you click 'Details >>>' ?
I will be looking into this further for you.
Many Thanks,

Hi John,
After clicking on Details, the words "No information" or similar are displayed. I have tried again today but with the same result. I have attached a new screenshot showing the installer initialisation progress window. I have checked the DVD and it looks undamaged, and there is plenty of free disk space.

Hi Mike,
Could you try initialising the installer on a different machine to see it if gives the same problem?
Also could I have the specs of your PC? If this problem persists I may have to escalate this further.
Many Thanks,

The installer does get further on another PC - as far as warning about low disk space.
My PC is a Dell Precision M6300 Core2 Duo with Win XP Pro SP3, 2GB RAM, 4GB free disk space.

Hi Mike,
This seems to suggest that it is a problem with the computer itself. I will look into this and ask my colleagues also.
Please ensure that all anti-virus software is closed also.
I will get back to you when there is progress, thank you for raising this issue.
Many thanks,

Have you tried copying the installer sources of the DVD to harddrive before running the installer?
Also, Virusscanner or Firewall might be additional issues here....
hope this helps,
Norbert
