LV 2013 Launches LVRTE 8.2.1 config when I launch it, demands MSI file

When I launch LV 2013 x32 on W7 x64, I see the "Ni LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.2.1" dialog pops up with a "Please wait while windows configures LabVIEW RTE 8.2.1".

Then it pops up a dialog asking me to locate the 8.2.1 LVRTE install MSI, which I don't have.

After cancelling this process 3 times, LV 2013 launches.

However, this causes VIPM to fail to connec to 2013, and I cannot install libraries.

any ideas?

It’s odd that LabVIEW 2013 is complaining about the 8.2.1 Run-Time Engine.

Are you loading or running any VIs from LabVIEW 8.2.1?

Have you tried reinstalling the 8.2.1 Run-Time? This should replace any files that may be missing.

You can download the Run-Time from the link below if it's not already installed on your machine.

What are you using the VI Package Manager for?

I am trying to use the VIPM to install libraries.  The specific libraries don't matter, because the issue is that VIPM is unable to control LV, since the dialogs are causing problems when it launches.

I have re-installed RTE 8.2.1; the dialogs are actually demanding the MSI, which are not available on the download.

To clarify, the dialog you're seeing is the same as before you reinstalled the Run-Time. Correct?

I found a thread related to your issue: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/error-1706-can-t-find-Runtime-8-2-1/td-p/1787852

Please try installing the f7 patch and see if it has any effect on the dialog: http://www.ni.com/download/labview-run-time-engine-8.2.1/550/en/
