Is there a way to 'comment' out code?

I don't know,

I don't even have 7.x, let along 8.0, so I guess it'll be a loooong time before I'll find out.

I just know what I read.

It would not suprise me.  There are usually artifacts left in released code for features that were dropped.  Duel scales on graphs were in a previous version, and when enabled typically caused LV to crash.  Delete from block diagram was in a couple of revisions before being formally put into the options, then the switch to enable 'hidden' properties and methods and so on.

BTW, I am not saying that there has not been work arounds for this stuff in the past.  I have been doing this for a little while... I am simply trying..although not successfully to say that this can be a more powerful tool than simply a way to comment out code.

Similar to when LV supported text and enum naming in the case structure.  That has developed into it's own programming architecture that was available, but much harder to do prior to that addition.

As for open G. Well I wish I had time to support that effort. Heck I am doing good to be keeping up with this thread alone!  Only cause I have not been sleeping well, did I even get onto this boards.

very strange....

Yes...  I had something similar happen to me the other day... I attributed it to possibly hitting the "TAB" key..
Maybe I should try again... it's a good way to tally up those replies in CC's list.. 😉

Nope...  TAB didn't automatically submit post..

Isn't the one included in 8.0 the same as the "hacked" / undocumented version from 7.x?

Not exactly. The one in 7.x was officially available with the PDA (and I think FPGA, too) module and was like a case structure for platforms - if you were running on windows, only the windows case would be enabled, running on pocketPC - you get the point. According to the documentation, this has only 2 states - enabled and disabled. The principle is the same, though.

I addition to the Diagram disable structure, we also have the Conditional disable strucuture (Which has been around for a while, but is now directly available in the palette). It lets you define what executes depending on target type (Windows, FPGA, PalmOS, RT, Mac, Unix, and PocketPC).

Hello everyone,

As others have mentioned, there are two new structures in LabVIEW 8 that can disable or "comment out" LabVIEW code.  The Diagram Disable Structure has been discussed the most on this thread and is completely new to LabVIEW.

There is a second structure - the Conditional Disable Structure - for which you can create custom symbols that define which subdiagrams should be enabled.  For example, you can have a subdiagram in each of your Diagram Disable Structures named Debug == True and another named Debug == False.  From the Project Explorer, you can define the values for custom symbols like Debug (i.e. set Debug to True) and all of the Conditional Disable Structures with this subdiagram will be enabled when the VI runs.  This is a very simple example - you can actually apply much more complex logic if you so choose.

Hi JLV

Yes I remember vaguely that I also pushed the TAB-Button. I better not try to reproduce it (I want to increase my reply-number on a honest way Smiley Very Happy ).

Becktho,

Try TAB then SPACEBAR

It appears that (TAB + SPACE ) = Submit Post (well not always)
