How to identify a system??

Hi,

I am new to the system identification and control design toolkit. I have cRIO 9505. I have an old printer which I want to find its transfer function. The input is a current and I want to monitor the movement of the motor (horizontal). I would like to know how to get the transfer function of this current input and position output.

I have looked at the user manual of 9505 and there is a NI 9505 block diagram (pg 8 in the version I have). On page 10, there is a current loop. Why is there a Kp and Ki?? Are they there to make sure that the current to the motor is closed to or equal to the current command (if current command is within current limit)??

Thanx
Lee

Here is a page that will provide you with more information about what Kp and Ki are in generals. Please let me know if you have additional questions about how to set them using the toolkits.

Best Regards,

With Labview system identification toolkit n control design toolkit, does the user still need to have any modelling & control knowledge? Because I know nothing about control stuff.

Hi xf,

Yes you will still need to know. LabVIEW System Identification and Control Design toolkit will make identifying a system easier, with the modelling and control knowledge the user has.

Hi

Thanks for the link.

I am using Labview 8.0, but my pc has been installed in another version 8.2.  In the 8.2 version location, the VI are not there.

But I am using 8.0 and checked that the VI are present at the locations:

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.0\project\Express Workbench\ConvertToLabVIEW.llb"
"C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.0\project\Express Workbench\mxmcvt_mxwLVapi.dll"
"C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.0\help\msureasstvi.chm"

Am installed with System identification 2.0

Control design 2.1

Simulation module 2.0
