How many cores does NI Real-Time or Pharlap support?

Hi,

We have an appliaction that requires a more powerful CPU than i7 3610QE , I am wondering how many cores does NI real-time or Pharlap OS support.

I mean if it support 8 cores or even more, then my bese option may be to use destop real time and use a more powerful PC CPU.

Does anyone know about this info? Many Thanks!

Hi,

NI REAL_TIME automatically takes advantage of multicore CPUs .The max number of cores is 255.

Support for more than 8 cores is disabled by default. This is because the auto-load balancing can become very slow with more than 8 cores. The customer will need to use static core assignments. There could be additional issues as well.

Support can be enabled by modifying ph_exec_smp.exe on the RT system.

Change with LabVIEW 2014:

CPU support for Phar Lap has been increased to 12 cores, see here
