I am looking to get a screenshot of the entire desktop, which will have multiple open windows, to use in a report.  I need a function that performs a "Print Screen" and saves the image.

Well, a simple search would bring you here.

As for the image, use the advanced search to search the posts of rolfk. One of them should have some VIs for copying images from the clipboard.

I have been able to take a screenshot and put it on the Windows clipboard, but I'm stuck there.  What I'm trying to accomplish is take a screenshot and save it to a file, preferably Microsoft Word.  Is there a way to copy the screenshot off the clipboard and into a file, or to skip the clipboard and take a screenshot directly to a file?
Thanks, Marty

Did you find Rolf's VIs?
They should allow you to get the image that's inside the clipboard in the LV picture format. Once you have that, you can use the picture VIs (located in the Graphics & Sound palette, unless you have LV base) to save it to a BMP, JPG, or PNG file.

You can even use ActiveX to place the image file into a Word document, but that's a lot more complicated. You can try looking at the ActiveX examples to see how it works.

Why are you digging up 7 and 8 year old threads to put links into them?
