How can I count time with labview7?

Hi
How can I count time with labview 7 and NI-DAQmx like I did with labview 6.1 and "count time-easy.vi" (count event or Time.vi).
I have a 6025E and labview 7.0
Thanks

I am not sure what you want to do or why..

... but here goes (some suggestions)

If you want to count the time between two events, you have a choice, you may use the Tick Count. Inisitalize it first by getting a timestamp and then do a difference within a loop. The difference will give you the time elapsed in ms.

You can also use the Get Date/Time String or Get Date / Time in seconds and once again take a snapshot when a first even occurs and another snapshot at the next even (at a point where you want to measure elasped time). This method is particularly useful if you want to timestamp an event.

If I didn't answer your question, can you elaborate what you mean by "How can I count time".

Best of luck..

Thank you for your answer. Yes I can use the tick count to measure the time elapsed between two events on two different digital inputs but I thank it was more precise to measure it with a counter of the 6025e board. With labview6 and traditional NI DAQ I used
event or time counter config.vi
counter start.vi
counter stop.vi
to do that, but I cant do the same thing with labview7 and NIDAQmx (I dont know how to do)

Hi baumettes,

if you do not need DAQmx for some other reason you can use the traditional DAQ VIs with LV 7 and NI-DAQ 7. It could be you have not installed them if they are not in the palette.

Hi guys,

more than 5 years later, I have kind of the same problem:

I am working with LabView 8.5 and have to renew some VIs. I can`t just use the traditionalDAQ methods, because for Motion control I had to use DAQmx vi`s. .....

So I am working with a counter source from the PXI6025E and want to reprogram the block the chain

"Event or time counter config - Counter start - Counter Read"

with DAQmx but somehow just don`t figure it out, would be happy about any kind of help. Thanks in advance!
