Help developing algorithm for cutting optimization

I am searching for mathematical algorithm for 2D cutting optimization of wooden plates. 

The idea is user enters dimesion of plates that are available, example 2 plates of 1000x1000mm. Then the user enters numer how many quadrature parts he wants and enters also dimesions of this cuts example: 3 parts 127x50mm, 6 parts of 500x30mm and 1 part of 500x700mm. The program then calculates and draws cutting plan, for the user. Software should use mathematicl algorithm that i cannot find anywhere.
