I haven't downloaded your program, but I was working on something similar that used the Terraserver database and .NET.  I gave up on it as soon as Google Earth came out.  That is a great program.

That's a nice (and huge...) work. I also started a similar project, but I'm still far from this. 🙂
Still a lot of wiring to improve ;), but gives already impressive results. There is a lot of stuff inside that's will be worthwhile to study !
Thanks for sharing, adn 5 stars !

Apart these comments, what sort of feedback are you waiting for ?

Suggested improvement of the user interface (sure these are things you already thought about ;)):
update the display as soon as a parameter is modified. ie, suppress the GO button !
add a distance scale, and a grid overlay,
display the pointer coordinates,
offer  the possibility to center the display on a selected point to help zooming in...

The tiling seems buggy around the edges : there are problems with some map/photo series connections. Can you comment ?

Wow!

Feedback:

Nice code.

Ditto CC.

If you really want to do something that I believe is just not available anywhere outside of the government Smiley Wink is to enhance this nice piece of work by making it 3-d.

In this thread post #32

http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=BreakPoint&message.id=183&jump=true

I posted a zip and discusion of how I rendered my model train layout in 3-d. In that example, I use a picture (like you) and use it to dicate the color at each location on the surface.

The surface is defined by a hardcode front panel control that I fat-fingered to define my layouts topography. Now if we could read the topographic map/lines and use it to define the topography of the photo.... use your photo and topographic info to feed my viewer...fill in the blanks.... a miracle occurs...

We could do virtual fly throughs of our neighborhoods.

Nice work vivi.

You deserve another set of stars.

Thank you all for replying with your thoughts.
I am looking for what else the program should have that I haven't thought of and also for any bugs that I missed.
what is wrong with my user interface? please tell me so I can fix it.
The reason I do not update the picture each time you change something is that most times that you change 1 of the controls you are going to change at least 1 more as well and it takes a fairly long time to update the picture.
I like the ideas of a scale and grid option.
I am currently working on pointer coordinates.
I will more than likely get around to having the coordinates be for the center tile.
the only bugs that I have seen about edge tiles witch are in a different UTM zone.

Thanks again

Very cool!  It would great if you could use one of those free online services to convert a place to a lat and lon instead of manually looking it up yourself.

Keep up the great work!

I didn't get any errors, but I didn't really get anything.... it wouldn't load any of the images.  I only got 'invalid scene id' in the map blocks!  Sorry!
