Drivers ZES Power meter

Is anyone have some IVI drivers for ZES Zimmer Power meters ?
I work with a Precision Power Meter LMG95 and I have only VISA drivers and they are very difficult to use because there are no explanations and no examples.
So if you have IVI drivers and some help files to send me it will be good.
Thanks

Is there IVI support for this device??

If you have the VISA drivers then it shouldn't be too hard to understand how these are used, have you tried contacting the Instrument Vendor for support with the drivers. I imagine with the aid of the user manual, you should be able to figure out some of the functions and how they should be used.

Sorry I can't help you out specifically with the IVI side of things.

Dear SR,

I have already contacted the Vendor (ZES ZIMMER) but I haven't any answer yet.

I don't know if there are some IVI drivers for this device it was the question because VISA drivers are difficult to use because I have no explanations, no support...

thanks for your answer

I'm assuming you got the driver from the vendor since there isn't a driver for this model on NI's site. If that's the case, if the vendor didn't document the LabVIEW driver, there's not much hope that they would have documented an IVI driver or provided an example. There isn't a requirement to provide an example with IVI drivers anyway, I believe. Power supplies are usually pretty simple to understand. Do you have the programming manual so that you know what the functions in the driver are sending and what the commands do? Can you post the driver so that other's can look at it and try to help you try to understand what it does?

p.s. IVI drivers have to use VISA as the communication API so describing a driver as "VISA" doesn't describe it very well.

Dear Dennis,

First sorry for my english because actually I'm french.

That I wanted to say with "VISA" drivers it's that I have only low level VI for this Power Meter.

I have only a small paper support concerning this device and it just talks about hardware specifications and I did'nt find anything on the vendor website. But I'm waiting for their answer...

I send to you drivers in order you can look at them and realize yourself.

Thanks

Inside the LLB there is an example named LMG95 example, to me this looks like a very good starting point. Does this not work for you as this is probably as good as it gets?

I tried to understand this example but the block diagram is very complex and functions are not explained, we can just see links, and when I ran it after doing settings nothing happened, just a Visa timeout error... I think I need more information about the communication between the PC and the Power Meter... I'm quite lacking in this kind of information for the moment.

OK, getting an IVI driver is not going to make things easier. Your best bet is to compare the names of the functions and parameters against detail inside the user manual and this should help explain some of the settings that need to be made and expected behaviour. If you still can't make headway with this, I would recommend applying some pressure on the Vendor to help more.

The first thing you should do is modify the VI called LMG95 Initialize.vi. In there, the very first function is called "old VISA Open". This does not work with newer versions of VISA. Right click on it and select Replace and browse to the VISA Open function on the Instrument I/O>VISA>VISA Advanced palette. You will get a broken wire from the string control labeled "Instr. Descriptor". Delete this control. Right click on the VISA Session terminal on the block diagram and select Show Control. Go to the front panel and connect the now visible VISA Session to the upper left most terminal of the connector pane. Save the VI. Click on the arrow on the right side of the VISA Session control and select the VISA reference that corresponds to your instrument. Run the VI and see if it works or not.
