Device Identifier is Invalid LabVIEW Core 1 Exercise 4-1

Solved!
Go to solution

In the LV Core 1, exercise 4-1, I am asked to run the thermocouple task. This VI opens fine but when I hit RUN is gives me the
Error 200220 Device identifier Invalid.

As you can see in the screenshot, it says the device specified is PCI-6221 but suggests that I use Dev1.

The simulated PCI-6221 is listed and is named Dev1. i checked this by trying the rename function.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you try using "Dev1"? Alias names are important as they help distinguish between different modules with the same part number.

Yes, renaming it Dev1 populates it as PCI-6221 "Dev1".

I found the solution just a few mins ago,  I had to rename it PCI-6221, which populates it as PCI-6221 "PCI -6221"

The Error went away and the VI ran.

Thank you for reaching out.
