Creating a Run button

Hello everyone,

I have two questions for you:

• First Q.:

I have Base Development System-Labview 2014. I try to create a run button for my user interface. I searched it on internet and I found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMSFBQV67XE. A helpful man tells us how to create run button in Labview (Please look it!). This man clicked on  file-> new -> other files -> X-controls-> Facade2. When I want to open Facade2 in my Labview, I can't see it. I can click on file -> new -> Xcontrols. I don't have Facade2  below Xcontrols in my Labview. Do you know why ? Please tell me a reason if you know.(I want to create a run button that works similar to operating prenciple of run button on above link.)

• Second Q.:

I want to create a run button by another way because I can't apply above method. Do you have another suggestion?

why do you think you need an XControl to run a VI?

What is the purpose of all those questions?

Usually you start a VI by using the run arrow in the edit menu, when in development environment.

After you created an EXE the EXE starts automatically…

Didn't we live through this nightmare a few weeks ago?

Forget that video and learn how to create a state machine that presents a button that must be pressed before the state machine transitions to an active state.

Most of these suggest the Run when Opened and then a State Machine architecture.

I really wish somebody would take down this absolutely ridiculous video. All it does it waste valuable time, promote poor programming practices, and confuse newbies.

(Don't learn about xcontrols! They are basically obsolete technology and won't even exist in LabVIEW NXG)

1. No, I don't think to use X-controls. X-controls are complex for me. I am a beginner programmer for Labview. I was just searching how to create a run button and  this video is came out.

 2. I wonder the differences between my Labview system and his Labview system. He is working with X-controls and he finds Facade2 in his system, but I cannot see Xcontrols -> Facade2. I wonder why I cannot see Facade2 in my system. I just want to create a run button in my front panel without using top left corner arrow. That's all.

3. Do I need to a run button when I create an EXE? Is this button important for user interface? (Maybe ,it will make effective front panel?)

4. What happens when I create an EXE?  Will EXE automatically run when I do 'run when opened' in execution option? Is this enough for users?
