3D Cad Model

Hi,

I am new to labview. I want to import a cad model of a flexible shaft which I will build in solidworks and then using labview 3d picture I want to simulate the bending in shaft. Data will be acquired from the actual setup using proximity sensor. My end goal is to display realtime bending in shaft in labview 3d picture control. Kindly suggest me starting point I have basic knowledge of labview and cad model design.

Using Google, I managed to search for "labview import 3d picture". 😉

The first four links are

• Using the 3D Picture Control - This gives good information that you'll probably need.
• How to Display 3D Models on a LabVIEW Front Panel - This mentions importing them as a VRML or STL file. (I had never heard of VRML, but if you have basic knowledge of cad model design, I'm confident you've heard of STL.)
• Load an ASCII STL file into LabVIEW 3D picture control - Example of loading an STL file into LabVIEW.
• STL Geometry in 3D Picture Control - Older example of loading an STL file into LabVIEW.

I recommend you convert your CAD model file to STL format and try some of these examples.
