2 ethernet cards on the same PC

I'm trying to seperate my clients network from the measurement application using 2 NICs. How exactly do I have to configure the cards? Is the IP address and the subnet mask plus TCP/IP protocoll binding enough? I tried that, but I can't ping the NT station with the 2 cards - I'll get timed out error 4 x and 100% loss. On top of that the NT station slowed down in performance - a lot!
Maybe someone can tell me how to configure NT4.0
Thanks.
Markus.
PS> I'm using Labview, but no TCP/IP VI's. I'm using DDE functions. This side of the project is working, the problem is, my customer can't access the NT Station from his network.

You might want to look at http://exchange.ni.com/servlet/ProcessRequest?RHIVEID=101&RPAGEID=135&HOID=5065000000080000003A1D0000&UCATEGORY_0=_49_%24_6_&UCATEGORY_S=0. All I can in addition is its a good idea to first bring up the NIC card to the clients network first without the second NIC in the computer. Once you know the IP of the first card, just make sure that the second NIC has a different subnet.

This might be a stupid response, but here goes -

Does DDE use TCP/IP or does it require another protocol such as NetBEUI?
