'human' scientific notation

Graphs and other numerics could look a lot nicer if, instead of normal 'computer' scientific notation ('1.2e-5') they could display 'human' scientific notation (1.2×10^-5).

You have this possibility already using the Advanced Editing mode for numerics. Examples can be found in the Format Specifier Syntax Help.

My bad. Your particular request would require a bit more than playing with the syntax specifier as you want to split mantissa and exponent.

Personlly, I think the E-notation (1.23e4) is easier to read, so I consider it to be 'human' form
