VI Development Time

In the VI Properties the VI Editing/Development Time can be displayed similar to the Microsoft Word and it should be accessed programatically, so that the effective developement time can be measured .

What for?

Which time should be measured anyway? Should a timer increase every time you move the mouse?

I've also been quite dubious of such arbitrary metrics. Just because you can measure something, doesn't mean it actually means anything. It sounds like you may be trying to use this to perform some project management function, like estimating time/resources on projects. If that's the case, there are better tools for that.

In what way is this going to help?

The idea behind the VI editing time display is to have it as a measure for VI development time . The VI Editing Time Should be the Accumulation of Effective Time between Open & Close of VI excluding the VI Execution time. Even though it might not be accurate it can stand close by to the Actual development time. You Can also Suggest if there are better tool which can do this.

This feature would be cool.  I can open my VI in themorning, go play golf and then bill the customer for all of my "work" at the end of the week.

Sarcasm aside, I fail to see the relevance of this proposal to any kind of professional development.

To make my point Clear this can be used as a metrics againts your estimated effort & not for billing to the customer. If the person opens the VI & Leave it for hours it will be a disadvantage to him. Microsoft has added this feature to the MS office tools as a statiscal measure.

Microsoft may have added it to Office, but when was Office ever a programming environment (VBA excluded).

As for better tools to track time, just Google. There are TONS of them.
