Red LED Indicator

Status: New

Quite often, I want to indicate a problem status on a front panel. It would be nice to have a red LED indicator available on the controls palette rather than having to modify the existing green ones (round and square)

Yes ! These controls only exist in the Classic palette !

Or how about an easy way to store "decorated" versions of the shipping UI elements. I usually change the colors of of other things like progress bars and such as well. Just let me stick them somewhere that's easily accessible.

However its not so primary concern, but definitely it will save coding the time.

You can easily save "decorated" versions of the LabVIEW controls for reuse today.

Right click on a control and select Advanced>>Customize... you can now use the control editor (which looks just like a front panel with no block diagram) to edit the control just like you would on a front panel.  Once you're happy with your control give it an icon and save the .ctl file to <LabVIEW Folder>\user.lib\.

Your new control will now show up in the User Controls palette (it may take a relaunch of LabVIEW for the palettes to update).

I find that particular step to be annoying.  Instead I end up creating custom snippets which have the image of the actual control and use Windows Explorer in thumbnail mode to manage the controls.  Until they give me Front Panel Snippets I have to remember to drag to the BD or use a QD shortcut to convert the image to a control.

I create a VI to hold my collection of controls. No control editor (customize control), just change the properties. Only one file holds all (controls and decorations).
