Moving forward or backward should do nothing for locked front panel objects

Status: Declined

A locked frontpanel element (Control or Decoration) can not be moved. But It is possible to move it to the front or back (from toolbar or with Keys Ctrl+J/K).

(The locked element is selected by dragging a rectangle from outside of it to over it).

Seen in LabVIEW 11 and 8.6.

Since the up and down moves are relative, we can move other objects and the result could be the same as we have moved the locked object. For instance, suppose that you have a locked control A on top and a unlocked B on the bottom. I agree that you should no be able to move A under B, but B can be moved above A. The result will be the same as we had moved A below B.

I agree that the principle of being locked should remain. But I'm not sure about this one.

There is only the locked object selected.

And when a locked and an unlocked object are selected, I want to stay the locked element in position. (This is the use case where I detected the behaviour. I wanted to move a decoration to the front and did not care about the selected decoration because it was locked. But it moved to the front also.

I locked the decoration because it is difficult to only select the elements in front of it.)
