I think it is useful if one can search local variables with comments. You can specify where the variable is by the comment set to the local variables. It should be helpful.
I think the search inside LabVIEW is getting a little old now, the options available are helpfull but not flexible enough when you need advanced search in a large project.
This idea is just about an option you'd like to have but in the end I think the whole search engine should be redefined and this should start with a brainstorm session including LabVIEW experts (R&D, LabVIEW field architects, LabVIEW CLAs, LabVIEW Champions, etc...).
On a side note, if you like scripting you can actually develop that specific search routine yourself using JKI's RCF + Vugie's Scripting sandbox + a small VI that uses a little bit of scripting to look for local varaible nodes throughout your project and only keep those that have a comment on them.
