Dim Node when Control / Indicator is Hidden

Status: New
Provide a visual indication of the BD node  when the when the Control / Indicator is Hidden on the FP.  I would prefer dimming the node itself but adding a glyph to the node would be acceptable also

Hmm, would be interesting.  I'm on the fence about the actual ramifications of it though.  I'm not sure I like the BD changing appearance based on UI actions though....

This can be given as an option. And I would strongly recommend some clicks or button press to get this and the default stay the way it is being now.

When looking at code of others, I am always wondering which nodes are hidden and a visual indication would be useful.

Many times the sole purpose of a hidden control/indicator is to hold data for local variables. By extension of the idea, local variables of a hidden control should also be identified in the same way.

I am not sure what you mean by "dimming" (dimming a light makes it darker), but one option would be to make them slighly lighter (similar to 25-50% transparent on a white background), e.g. what you get if you "cut" a file in explorer. Another option would be a small glyph, a halo, or a dotted outline.

What about if that information was shown in the context window if you hover over the terminal node or a local variable of it?

I would be happy with some sort of permanent indication else I have to hover all nodes.  By dimming I mean lighter color just like altenbach eluded to.

A similar idea was just marked as a duplicate of this one.  I'm posting a link here to not lose another idea of how to alter the terminal.

Hidden overlay on Controls and Indicators on Block Diagram

Any kudos for the general idea of somehow marking the terminal and/or local variables for hidden controls/indicators should be given to this current idea.
