That's puzzling. I've never had a problem with TDS Scopes and GPIB before.

I assume you've already set an address through the Scope's menus. Other obvious questions - Are you using a known good GPIB cable?

Is this a single standalone instrument or are there other devices attached to the controller board?

Also I'm not sure about this, but I think the older TDS Scopes made you choose your preferred communication port (eg - Serial OR GPIB).

It's a NI GPIB. All i did was to instal the software from the cd. How do i set an address ?It's the first time i use an GPIB and probably there are lots of things i don't know.  The scope is a TDS 724.

Ssnakey--

Just out of curiosity, does the GPIB-USB-HS show up in MAX as well?  How about when you scan for instruments, do you get an error?  If so, what is it?

My GPIB driver version is : 2.5.2.1.

I've attached a printscreen with the way MAX see my hardware.Maybe there are some things i have to set for the scope.

Hi the screen you did sent is for the USB-HS GPIB interface and I'm wondering why it has address 1

Normally the gpib interface has address 0  and the instruments start to count from 1 up to 31.

I see indeed no instruments found, so that message is correct but what address does the scope have?

greetings from the Netherlands

Ssnakey,

Have you ensured that the device is set up for GPIB communications?  When you scan for instruments it will tell you the address of the device.  As Semper_discens said, some TDS scopes have to be either serial or GPIB.  If you have a way to change out cables (or a way to test this one with a known and working setup) that would be good to test as well.

Hi,

Do you have the manual to see how to change the settings?  I only found a service manual, but that might help
