Neither of the lights (Ready and Active) are glowing while the cable is connected to a computer USB slot. I opened the device and the supply voltage to the PCB board from USB cable is not 5 volt DC (it was around 3.1 V DC).

So my question is not getting the enough supply voltage (which is 5 VDC) be the reason for not glowing any light or not?

That could be your computer's USB not outputting enough power, which I have had problems with, especially on laptops. I generally make sure to use an externally powered USB hub if I must use USB for instrumentation.

The other possibility is something on your GPIB-USB-HS is broken and is drawing too much current.

My first thing to try here is to plug the device into a different computer and see if it works.

Hello,

I checked the USB supply voltage is satisfactory 5 VDC.

When USB is connecting to PC port the lights are flashing momentarily and after that there is no response or light.

(Note: I checked this to a seperate PC where no software or driver is loaded. I was expecting to get a pop window from PC for "found a new hardware wizard" - but nothing was appeared in the PC). Please find the attached 6 second video of light flash.

With reference to my previous posts, I like to inform you that I am using this for Agilent AAS instrument.

Please help me to understand whether this problem is due to driver? Or the adapter hardware is already damaged/broken?

You need to tell us more about your problem, and what you have tried to fix.

For example:

• Do you see the device listed in Windows Device Manager?  (Is there an X beside its name?  Look at the details for the device.)
• Did you install the NI-488 driver software? 
• Can you see the device listed in NI-MAX before the lights turn off?
• Have you tried this device with another computer? 

More details usually results in better help.

I concluded with the fact that the board(USB-IEEE adapter is broken and needs to be replaced.

My question is how such a costly item get damaged within 8 months? Is it due to voltage supply problem from SMPS power supply from CPU?
