The driver supports GPIB, RS-232, Ethernet, and USB. So, if you have a GPIB board, it's connected to the instrument, and done a scan for instruments in MAX, your connection should show up in the list of available VISA Resources.
If you do not have an NI board, then you will have to do a few different things in order to get things to work. Search the board for 'Agilent GPIB' as an example if that's the case.
