NIScope Self Calibrate PCI-5112 Error

Hello,

I tried the self calibrate feature of NI Scope and I received this error:

niScope Cal Self Calibrate.vi:3<ERR>Software failure occured during operation.

What does this mean?

There are a lot of reasons this could have happened, but there is a very common one. Have you opened NI-MAX and verified the device exists before trying the self-cal? The 5112 is a very old device and requires NI-MAX to intialize the software before it can be used.

I followed your advice of opening NI-MAX and verifying the device is recognized.  I then launched NI-SCOPE from NI-MAX and did the self calibration and I still get the same error.  I did disconnect all the inputs to the card.  I have also pass the "Test Resources" from card properties (in NI-MAX). 

I am able to get a signal, but I am trying to fix a discrepancy between by PCI-5112 signal and an external oscilliscope signal.  I am hoping that the self-calibration will fix this problem.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

At this point we need to determine whether you have a hardware or software problem. Have you upgraded NI software lately or did this problem just occur? How long do you think the problem has existed? Do you have another 5112 which works in the same slot/computer/OS/etc. ?

Yes I was having problems before.  Originally the card was setup on a windows XP partition.  However, after an automatic NI update I no longer could open NI SCOPE (unable to calibrate).  There was some corruption that prevented the uninstaller from running. Due to the deprecated Windows XP I switched to a Windows 7 installation and installed the recommended NI Scope software.  At this point at tried to run the calibration and I started to get the error.  I don't have access to any other cards.

What version of NI-SCOPE are you running? You can use MAX to determine this (Software->NI-SCOPE). The latest is 14.1 and it does support the 5112 on 32-bit operating systems. Due to its age, the 5112 is not supported on 64-bit operating systems.

I am using NIScope 14.1 on a Windows 7 32bit machine.

I am making internal inquiries to see if anyone has seen a bug like this.

Have you tried reinstalling or repairing your NI-SCOPE installation? You may also want to try uninstalling NI-SCOPE and reinstalling the older version that worked for you.
