Behaviour when BootP table is empty

Solved!
Go to solution

What is the behaviour of a cFP-2220 if it is configured to use DHCP and it gets contact with a BOOTP server which happens to have a cleared BOOTP table? Will it still start up the RT-application (halt on TCP is set to False), and run normally, but with a link local address?

Is there a difference there between having it online with a DHCP server, and using a BOOTP server?

We have a case where such a controller seems to freeze up, the status LED starts to blink 4 times in a row. We are unable to recreate this with a DHCP server.

(This particular case is a bit special since it also involves an application that will try to reconfigure the controller back to static IPs (using System Configuration API 5.0) if it does not get a valid IP when booting in DHCP mode AND it has a valid IP from a previous bootup saved in an INI-file, and it is difficult to tell exactly when the crash occurs...But is a difference in the bootup behaviour to be expected?)
