Hi Niels,
The modern word "diadem" comes from the Greek word "diadema", which means "royal crown". In English and German today the word still means "crown" or "tiara".

Hello Niels!
You have to know that DIAdem was originaly developed by the german company 'GfS' wich got part of NI in 1999. DIAdem was the legal successor of some older products with the names 'DIA/DAGO' and 'DIAWin'. You see 'DIA' was always part of the product names and is a shortcut for DIAgram. The second part 'dem' is not really clear. As far as I know it is the shortcut for 'Demo'. In 1992 the first DIAdem version was shown on a fair. This version was more or less a mockup or demo version and the name was obvious . Later the name wasn't changed anymore.
