Error when saving layout

I get the following error message when trying to save my layout file (*.TDR). No options shown. How do I save my days work?

Thanks

Please let us know the following things:

- Version of DIAdem (Please go the the "?" menu, then "About" and then check there for the exact version umber (something like 9.xx.yyyy)
- Operating system
- A screenshot of your DIAdem screen with the layout would also be helpful

Was the layout you created designed from scratch or did you load an existing one and make changes to it?

One thing you could try (and risk losing your work) is this:

- Go to REPORT,
- Hit Ctrl-A to select all objects on the screen,
- Click the "New" icon on the top of the screen,
- Try and save the report (probably wouldn't work) when the software asks you if you would like to
- Hit Ctrl-V to insert all object you copied into the blank layout
- Try and save the layout again.

If that fails to work, you will lose your work though.

If you can provide some more details, maybe we can try something else.

Thanks,

Otmar

Hello Otmar,

DIAdem version is 9.01.1933 TDM Service pack 1
O.S. is windows 2000
Screen shot attached prior to save attempt and after save attempt.

Layout was from scratch.

I think I was able to save my work by doing something similar to what you suggest.

Thanks for the help.

I have had the same issue. I tried the described 'fix' to no avail. I lost (suggested as a possibility) my layout. HELP!

Hi all,

I'm highly interested to find out what the problem is based on. But without having a detailed description like a step by step instruction it is nearly impossible. All my tests I've done are working fine. Please let me know how I can reproduce your behavior.

Greetings

Walter,
I tried AND tried and finally saved the TDR file. I have no Idea what i did differently, as I am almost positive that I did the same thing each time. I brought in three separate (and on another occasion, five separate) TDM files and plotted similar pairs of parameters from each (in this case, it was angle of attack against airspeed). Upon trying to save, I got the ill-fated message several times. When I tried repeatedly to save, the message persisted. I then closed the APP and reloaded everything, recreated the plot and tried to save. The steps were becoming rather monotonous at that point, so I'm absolutely certain I did the same things...
1) add the new entry(s)
2) scale the plots manually
3) select the individual curve parameters
4) "save as"

As a matter of fact, I just loaded the last TDM and TDR files to verify this and the curves don't show up... a NEW twist to the issue.

I'll keep working the issue and try to identify any peculiarities to teh process, but I don't hold much hope for it.

Hi Zilla, Ray,

I've done lots of tests but never this behavior occurs. So I've the following suggestions:

Ray, you're working with DIAdem 9.10.2036. (www.ni.com/support/diasupp) On the NI web you find the DIAdem service pack 1b. Please, can you install it and test it again?

Zilla and Ray, please can you send me your TDM files and REPORT layouts (if possible) so that I can do some additional tests with your specific files? Please, send these files directly to walter.rick@ni.com.

Thank you and greetings

Walter

Hi Walter,

I had the same behaviour under 9.10.2260 Service Pack 2 - no saving was possible with the same error message. After I changed the contents of one of the text fields in the layout (different font size), it worked again without problems.

Stefan

We found one way to reproduce this issue:
If you create a new layout, and prior to creating a second delete the first sheet of the report by rightclicking the tab in the bottom of the window and choosing delete.
As expected, DIAdem will automatically be creating a new sheet but internally there seems to go something wrong with it and the layout cannot be saved.
Can those who have been affected confirm this assumption?
I'll forward this information to R&D to get this fixed.
Thanks.

PS: A better way to start a layouit from the scratch is to use the function "new" out of the menu "file" ore using the symbol, respectively.
