Those two anecdotes remind me of O'Henry short stories (he, by the way, served time in jail in Austin, Tx. don't remember for what).

Calling others thieves while being one is nasty!
it depends on how long you hve been following alfa's posts and how good your memory is.
The story of Benghazi has been simmering on a low flame with little interest (after all they were mostly miltary types, who cares about the violent types anyway he says sarcasticaly). But now with news of Petraeus resigning due to some "under the table" (no pun intended) stuff the story now has a sexual aspect and could make for some big ratings. So regrouping we have;
At first a couple of patriot type dying to possibly cover-up an arms deal that may have suppied AlQuida ... ho hum so boring.
Add some sex Bingo! Headlines (no pun intended) to entertain for a week or more.
So if it plays out the way I suspect this story could go a long way toward provong one of Alfa's old claims that 99% are animals.
Crazy idea time! (after all I am in the process of backing up something Alfa said)
What if we required all politicians and political apointees be eunuchs ? Would it help or hurt (the country not the apointee).
OK, kidding aside.
After the new 007 movie on Friday night my wife and I discussed what we don't like about Bond films. The heavy relience on sex to carry the story and move the plot is a major factor. many of the women are portrayed as only having an sexual identitiy and are empty shells without it. Women are more than sexual objects and dispite 007 so are men. There is an old saying about art copying life or life copying art and the message of Bond films and other similar films is being reflected in our society. can we fault young women who have grown up in an environment that tells them their value is assesed by the man they are associated with. I feel this was highlighted by the news that Petreaus had a couple of women fighting over him.
Arrrghhhh!
We are not our just platforms carying around two variety of equipment looking to interface.
Most of us that have actually done anything that helps our fellow human has done so fully clothed. But I supose it is just too hard to tell that story and keep people interested.
So maybe Alfa was right?
You tell me.

Which was John Galt when he "took" Dagne Taggart on the floor of the underground section of the railroad? I think he left his clothes mostly on though.

Interesting point Putnam!
Dagne was "sexy" because of her power and elegance and not her apperence. In the 50's Marlyn Monroe was the typical "sexy babe" and next to the description of Dagne she would made Dagne look skinny. Post "twiggy" the idea of beauty has shifted toward the thinner frame. Take a look at "Venus on the half-shell" to see how the typical beuaty has changed.
I was pleased to see in Atlas Shrugged part II that the gratuitous sex scene was minimized, but even that could have been eliminated.
While Ayn Rand was spot on about social shifts, there are many topics where I would like to give her a good talking to.

Obama and the media (with the exception of Fox News) have been ignoring and obfuscating it. Wouldn't want dead Americans to interfere with our POTUS/CIC's reelection aspirations, now would we?

No, I don't htink alfa was right.
I've very strong beliefs (without wanting to misuse the word) in a lot of things but I'd rather let someone with diametrically opposed views to mine into power than accomodate people like Alfa.
He's all noise and no signal.

Then in some respects we agree.
When we allow ourselves to be controlled using sex, we are proving Alfa right. I do not want him to be right.
each of us have power to prove him wrong everytime we choose to ignore the easy "sexual" techniqies of controlling and influencing our behaviour. We can choose not to buy or to watch.
Combining a Sir Authur Conan-Doyle quote (the human mind is like an attic sooner or latter you have to throw away old stuff to make room for new stuff) with "Displacement Theory" (the technique I use to get those stupid songs out of my head... It's a small world after all, Its...).
If we don't like what is in our heads put something else there to displace the parts we don't want.
letting others decide what is in our heads only gives power to those that think like Alfa and have no objections to using that knowlege to control us.

Hmm. I'm not sure I can agree with a lot of this.
I refuse to categorically separate the "sexual" into good and bad. It's more grey than that. Maybe fifty shades or so.... (OK, bad joke).
But seriously, I don't ascribe to the theory that being an animal is in any way shape or form "wrong" per se. It's our animal instincts which make us do ANYTHING to save our children if they are in danger, even without regard to one's personal safety. Yet is't the same animal instincts which make us want to hit someone over the head with a baseball bat for being infuriating. The animal side of us controls only our impulses. Our conscious mind filters and decides. Which action is wrong and which is right? Both are "sexual" responses.
Yet animals share this with us so even this distinction doesn't hold water. Dogs can be trained to not snap at a biscuit even though they clearly want to.
I embrace my animal self and I see nothing wrong with it. I am still a good and moral person and I also see no contradiction in that at all. This is why I feel Alfa is fundamentally wrong in the very core of his arguments.
Shane.
