I think it is the other way around.

Darin copied the VI snippet container from a LV 2009 PNG snippet into an existing PNG file.

I am interested in ideas to create VI snippets programmatically.

A little bit more exploration done:

the chunk used for the code is 'niVI', the last letter is uppercase, this means that any of the critical parts of the PNG are edited, the chunk should removed from the PNG.

This is a good security precaution!

It means that if someone edits the PNG (placing another code display for instance) the code itself is removed from the PNG.

In my VIOTD I show an example where I add a text label to a snippet image.  In this case I simply switch the IDAT chunk in the PNG file.  For this case, I used a similar technique but as I hinted above and will now spoil, I inserted the two chunks of metadata that NI creates into the image file (picture).   A minor modification of the example is all that is necessary.

I hope these two threads stimulate some useful (and some fun and not-so-useful) uses for snippets and other methods of code capture and sharing.

I'd like to start trash talking, but it is still too early for that.  I'll want to wait until after Thanksgiving before starting any talk.

Darin's prediction didn't come through.  Only 1 sack on Flacco, and Merriman was pretty much a non-factor in the game.  Maybe I should work on modifying his example so Ray Lewis is the top picture and Sproles getting crunched by him in the backfield is the hidden VI.  Smiley Very Happy

The Giants vs Cowboys game was one of the sloppiest games of football I've seen in a while.

But the Giants won (barely) so I'm not going to complain.

Eli has got to work on passing under pressure.

Not the defensive effort I expected from the Ravens, nor the offensive (lack of) effort I expected.  As a (division leading) Broncos fan I'll thank the Ravens for once again providing me with false hope that can be crushed with a late season collapse.

Shawne Merriman was the first D-lineman that came to mind on Friday.  I would have liked to flatten Phillip Rivers, but now that the Goose is gone, I couldn't think of any well-known Ravens linemen.   Ray Lewis may not have been a bad choice.

@ cory did you watch the miami game lol (that was pretty sloppy looked like we where playing peewee football).

and the only thing I know about the ravens is that they are a team that has 5 or so former miami hurrican players (when miami was really really good)

so ravens have to be a pretty good team.

Yes I read and understood your thought leading up to that point but my speed read of that post hit me like a Lewis Black line;

If there is enough interest, I propose a LV NFL challenge.  For entertainment purposes only, of course, the challenge is to write a LV VI that will pick NFL games.  I will provide a template with input enums for home team and away team and an enum output for the winner.  You fill in the code to pick a winner.  I propose starting the picks in Wk5, so the VIs should be posted by then (passwd protected is ok before the start, internet connection will be off for you tricksters).  The same VI will be used for all of the following weeks and it would be nice to provide passwords so we can all see what is going on after entries have closed.  I will post a leaderboard.  We will all compete against a random number generator.
