Challah bread recepies

Ray.R wrote:

In french, we simply call it "pains aux oeufs"  or "Egg bread" in english.

Ray:  Ever hear of "pains perdu" (lost bread)?  It's made with eggs.  I think its the same as what is commonly called French Toast.

Non.. C'est la premiere fois que j'entends cette expression.

Ca due etre perdu lors de la deportation..  😉

Ooohh  that's a bad joke.. My dad would slap me.. 😮

The egg-bread is different from the French Toast.

It has a yellow color and it is almost as dense as a very light pound cake.

Well.. not quite..

But it is delicious..

Ha Ha.  I guess the bread was as lost as the first Acadians that came to settle in the swamps of Louisiana.Smiley Very Happy

Thanks muks,

We actually tried a "Canadian" variation on one of the recepies that we found on the net.  It was simple actually.  We substituted sugar for maple syrup (the real thing, not maple favored stuff).  The bread turned out great.

OOpps...  I guess Putnam will read this thread and will want a loaf..  😮

😉

Did you say want A loaf or want To loaf? Either would be great, although combining them would be better!
